About the Strong Athletic Official Shirts for Roller Derby Refs
Strong Athletic was created within the sport of roller derby. SA founder Nadia Kean, aka Smarty Pants, used to play roller derby for the Texas Rollergirls of the WFTDA and for TXRD Lonestar Rollergirls. Nadia has first hand knowledge of how important on-skates officials and non-skating officials (NSOs) are to roller derby and the sport could essentially not be played safely or accurately without them.
Like all the people involved with roller derby, officials do not have a paid position, which means that they officiate games because they love the sport. We had many officials ask us to make a shirt that was specific to them and so we created this shirt as a nod to all of their hard work and expertise. We also think it makes the perfect appreciation gift for officials from derby leagues. What better way to tell your officials "thank you" than buying them an epic Strong Athletic Official shirt? If you are an officiator for any sport, and especially roller derby, thank you!
This shirt comes in two styles: a t-shirt and a tank top. The crew neck tee is made by Bella Canvas, style number 3001CVC and the full length racerback tank is also made by Bella Canvas, style number 8430.
The words "Strong Athletic Official" are printed in white ink on the black fabric on the front, the Strong athletic logo is printed on both the front and the back.
The design of this shirt is based on the original "Strong Athletic Woman" design created by Cristen Perks. The Strong Athletic logo was designed and created by Angel Ortega of Garzig Designs in Austin, Texas. This shirt is screen printed by hand in Austin, Texas by Amanda at the Artists Screen Printing Coop.
