Shirts for LGBTQIA2S+ Athletes: Our Strong Athletic Queer Black Crew Neck T-shirt
Strong Athletic is a queer owned company and we are proud to be part of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. Through the products we make, our goal is to support athletes who are on the fringe of sports and that includes athletes in our community. What do we mean by being on the "fringe of sports"? Strong Athletic has a history of supporting athletes who play sports that are more obscure and we also support people that mainstream sports do not typically include when it speaks about athletes.
As part of our mission to support LGBT+ athletes in sports, we've pre-donated a portion of the profits from each of our Strong Athletic Queer shirts that we sale to Pull for Pride. What is a pre-donation? A pre-donation is when we make the donation in advance before we sell the shirt. This allows us to make an accurate and timely donation to the non-profit based on the number of the shirts that are created, rather than the number of shirts that are sold. The black Bella Canvas Crew Neck T-shirt is basically your average tee. This shirt is designed to hang "straight down" meaning it doesn't billow and it is not "flowy". The length of the sleeves is very average- it is not capped sleeved and they do end above the elbow, about mid-upper arm. The length of this t-shirt is also average, with the hem coming down to the mid-upper thigh. This shirt is pre-shrunk.
As mentioned above, the Strong Athletic Queer design is based on the original Strong Athletic t-shirt created in 2013 by Cristen Perks for Strong Athletic founder Nadia Kean. The words "Strong Athletic Queer" are screen printed by hand in bright white ink on the front of the shirt and the Strong Athletic logo is printed on both the front and the back of the shirt. The Strong Athletic logo was designed for Strong Athletic by Angel Ortega owner and key designer at Garzig Design, based in Austin, Texas. There is a good chance that your shirt was screen printed by Amanda who works out of the Austin Screen Printing Coop, however if your shirt was not screen printed there, then it was screen printed at a small scale, locally-owned shop in the United States.
